THINGS TO DO ON ILHA DE MOZAMBIQUE

Guided Walking Tour
There are two ways to discover Ilha de Mozambique. Either by foot or on a bicycle, each with their advantages.
Taking a walking guided tour makes you feel more connected to the island, and offers a lot more opportunity for photography, than by bike. It also provides more time with your guide to ask more questions and learn more from your guide whilst en route to the next historical site. However, you will need more time and will cover less ground.
So if you have limited time on the island the bicycle tour may be the better option.

Guided Bicycle Tour
Take a Guided Bicycle tour around Ilha de Mozambique. One of the suppliers that we use is Ilha Blue, that can assist with a variety of tours, including bicycle tours.
They use UNESCO trained, Makhuwa guides that will take you to all the important landmarks as well as behind the scenes to share information about the local life on the island.
The tour duration is approximately 2.5Hours.

Kayak and Snorkel around the island
If you enjoy being active, why not do a tour in a kayak around the circumference of Ilha de Mozambique?
The Ilha blue “Kayak and Snorkel tour” takes you right around the island, both above the water on a kayak, as well as below the water, snorkeling.
Learn all about the history of the island with your tour guide as you kayak around a lot of the historical sites, including Fortaleza de São Sebastião and Fortaleza de São Lourenço, the latter being the least visited on the island due to it being on a separate little island from the main island.
There is an opportunity to snorkel in the Ilha Gardens, and you even pass by an old shipwreck.
Thisis a wonderful tour that compliments a walking or cycling tour if you have more than one day to explore the island.

Meet the locals
The true beauty of Ilha de Mozambique lies in the wonderful hearts and smiles of the local people.
There is always a warm welcome and a friendly greeting as you pass them by, and normally very obliging to have their photo taken. They are very proud and understand the importance of tourism to their island, which has become a lifeline for many.

Photography
There is so much history, culture, people and urban landscapes to capture through the lens of your camera that you can get lost for many hours on such a small island.
